The songs on this album represent a widely varied cross-section of songs that I have collected over a period of 45 years.  Songs that I'll sing to a houseful or a handful and have a great time doing it.  Especially singing around a campfire.

Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You is (I think) the best country song of all time.  I've included 2 original Marty Robbins songs, Mister Shorty and Old Red, and Marty's spiffed up version of an old western classic Strawberry Roan. There are two pure nonsense songs, I'm My Own Grandpa, and my own Ugly Woman Blues.  Two songs are from the Singing Cowboy movies - Mexicali Rose and Cattle CallSing A Song For Daisy is one that I wrote for a motion picture "Wild Rovers".  Three of my favorite Cowboy Poems are included, and last but not least, three Gospel songs to call my very own that I could share as a part of my personal witness to His great love and power.  I'm Gonna Rise One Mornin' and I Saw The Lord Save A Soul One Time.  Then my very favorite of the old time Gospel songs, Amazing Grace.

Singing around a campfire is a very personal experience.  As I start to sing I begin to notice smiles start to come across faces and then remarks like "My Mother used to sing that one to us kids" or "I remember that one from the Singing Cowboy Movies" or "I haven't heard that one in years".  Did I mention it's my favorite thing to do?  Every time before I start to perform, I say a little prayer and ask God to let me touch just one heart.  Over the years I have an idea I may have touched a few.  I hope so.  It would be my very great pleasure if you would let me touch yours.   Love,
