Welcome to Blue Eagle Guitars

My name is Eddy Harrison.  I make my home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, just 40 miles north of El Paso, Texas.  I have been a serious fine woodworker all my adult life making my livelihood in that profession.  I grew up on a small cotton farm  and fell in love with music at a very early age.  I began playing guitar at about 14 years of age and gradually became involved in professional music.  I wrote many songs over the succeeding years and recorded as well.  I bought a Martin D-28 in 1967, which I loved and played for over 30 years.  I still have it.  But recently (about 7 years ago) I decided to see what a guitar would look like decorated with turquoise.  It seemed like a perfectly normal choice, especially for the Southwest desert region.  I had seen many instruments embellished with abalone and Mother of Pearl, but none of any other material.  So I designed and built one.  It sounded good and looked great, but the results were a little less than spectacular.  This only increased my resolve to produce this type of guitar.  I continued to design and build Jumbo acoustics and expanded my soundhole design base using red and green abalone, Mother of Pearl, and simulated Lapis Lazuli.  I have also created inlays using brass and colored epoxy to create a cloissoine style rose on several models.  My logo, seen above, appears on the headstock of all my guitars, thus the name BLUE EAGLE.  I hope that my guitars and inlay designs will add a new dimension to the luthier trade, and help to satisfy that special need we all have for something unique.

Turquoise
It's just a rock, but how beautiful it becomes when surrounded with gold or silver or other materials to enhance its properties as an accent.  I'm about to introduce you to turquoise as an accent on fine musical instruments.  I have designed no less than (8) eight acoustical guitars with varying patterns around the soundhole, and a continuous ribbon of turquoise inlaid around the perimeter of my instruments, defining the Sitka Spruce tops.  All these instruments are built first and foremost to be beautiful sounding and easy to play guitars.  I have developed a sound chamber that delivers crisp clear treble notes and a smooth, rich bass boom with spectacular sustain.  My guitars are built with loving care with special attention paid to every detail.  I use only the finest tone woods.  Quilted maple, figured Walnut and East Indian Rosewood are my favorites.  I use Sitka Spruce for my tops.  The bracing on my tops is scalloped for extra resonance.  I most generally use the same material for the neck as the box is made of and hand fashion them for comfort and playability.  I use Ebony fingerboards and bridges.  Please feel free to cruise my site and be sure to pay special attention to the turquoise, MOP and abalone inlay on each guitar.  I welcome any and all comments and ideas pertaining to design, special needs and wants.    These instruments are to be prized as unique works of art for collectors and would make wonderful presentation pieces for awards or gifts.  Owners will possess not only a fine guitar but a fine work of art as well.  My instruments are all named for roses and described in length on succeeding pages.
